Youtube Shorts Algo Thinks I’m too Long

In this demonstration of premium overthinking, we have that bunny bear Kevin as Mr. Sir chomp-a-lot himself.

I always liked pacman as a kid. If I were to reverse engineer a reason, it’s probably because he’s got cunning, has to dodge scary enemies where the odds are against him, and he can level up. In this case, I got pacman Kevin eating up the proverbial berries of an entrepreneur. The idea is that each berry is a necessity towards milestones and success. Since half of all art I make is for myself, I’ve paired it with sound affects from movies, games, and tv shows I like. I hope you found them likeable

I published this and the bad news is that it hit the 1200 viewer ceiling. The good news is that I got one comment within the first 7 hours, and 38% watch rate, which is double what it was. This means my content is seeing improvement people! improvement is motivation and I am motivated to make this word! I quickly consulted gemini to better understand based on these stats, what should I work on.

Gemini seems to think 50 second shorts are too long for my type of channel and I may perhaps have screwed myself by promoting my content to people who have affinity towards animations. The back story is that I saw traction and was trying to accelerate traction by promoting some of my posts by 5-10 bux a day. You get to choose who sees it, I of course thought animation lovers is right. I chose 25-40 as my age range of my promotion and it does well. THE ALGORITHM HOWEVER, keeps leaning into under 18, of which my content is doing shit. If gemini is revealing the secret sauce to me from its mothership google then I must choose different promotion affinities to correct the organic algo demographic ASAP!

Let’s see how much progress I can get in the coming weeks. I’ll catch you on the next one

Meow meow,

Steve
