Why Am I Always Overthinking? (And How to Stop the Loop)

Kevin overthinking in bed at 3 AM

We’ve all been there. You lay down to sleep, and suddenly your brain decides it’s the perfect time to review every mistake you’ve made since 2012. In today’s comic, Bunny Bear Kevin is going through the classic ‘3 AM worry spiral.’ But scientifically, why am I always overthinking?

The 2 most common reasons are:

(1) your genetically wired survival instinct telling you to not ignore your freak out or you’ll regret it…

(2) and or your anxiety is generally freaking out over uncertainty because when you were younger, you had a bad experience with letting go but getting bitten in the butt-ducks

BB Kev’s Solution: Put a hand-written journal next to you and jot these intrusive thoughts down! You have literally bookmarked these challenges onto physical paper and you are actively telling yourself that you will prioritize and tackle them tomorrow!

Do keep in mind, though, if you don’t actually build consistency and build trust with your own self to tackle these problems, this solution will absolutely not help you; your subconscious is not stupid 🙂
